The Olympia City Council is considering (and apparently moving forward with) efforts to ban sitting, laying or asking for spare change within 6 feet of all downtown area buildings.  Local individuals experiencing homelessness are concerned with the impact of this proposed ordiance should it be enacted. It would left up to Officer discression as to who would be ticketed for these "offenses". Those found in violation of the proposed ordinance could be fined up to $1,000 or 90 days in jail. The City Coucil meeting every Tuesday evening begining at 7 pm in the City Hall Chambers (900 Plum St). Community members may sign up for 3 minuets to testify before the council.
