Youth Group Meetings are held every Tuesday from 3 pm - 4 pm in Rosie's Place at Community Youth Services.

All youth and young adults between the ages of 12-21* are welcome.

Youth Group activities range from brief presentations about sexual assault, domestic violence and child abuse; discussions and the development of projects aimed at increasing community awareness of these social issues AND to impact the attitudes, values, norms and commonly held beliefs that support these crimes. Project contributors are provided a $15 honorarium (gift certificate) for their ACTIVE involvement/contribution to projects.

In recent months activities have included the development of a 5 minuet Promotional Video for local community television on sexual assault awareness. Participants were involved in every aspect of the development including storyboard planning, scripting, conducting photoshoots and recording music and narration. The project has been made possible through our partnerships with both YAYA Media and Rosie's Place (CYS). The PSA is expected to be on-air in September 2007 and will played on Comcast, channel 22.  Click here to view the video on OlyBlog!!!!

Youth group participants have also been developing an informational booklet on the Washington State Rape of a Child Laws and other related crimes. The purpose of the booklet is provide the community with an easy to understand resource to de-mystify the complicated rape laws affecting both youth and adults engaged in (or considering) sexual activity with children and teens. In addition to the involvement of youth and young adults in this project, contributors to this booklet include the Thurston County Prosecuting Attorney, Law Enforcement and Advocates for Victims of Crime. The booklet is expected to be released by the fall of 2007.

    * Young adults over the age of 21 are still invited to get involved and are encouraged to contact PiPE staff for alternative opprotunities to meet and contribute!
