Located in Olympia, Washington, Partners in Prevention Education provides sexual & domestic violence prevention & intervention services to marginalized youth in Thurston County.
Our Mission is to engage homeless and at-risk youth and adult allies in the elimination of sexual and domestic violence as it contributes to homelessness and as it exists in street-culture. We achieve this through social change work, violence prevention education, and survivor support services including advocacy, therapy and support groups.
Partners in Prevention Education began as a demonstration project in 2004, when Rosalinda Noriega was contracted by the Washington Coalition of Sexual Assault Programs to outreach to and work in partnership with homeless and at-risk youth to develop a plan to prevent sexual violence within their community. Throughout PiPE's inception, local therapist and educator Chandra Lindeman provided support and consultation services and soon joined Rosalinda in continuing to work with youth and their vision of a community free of sexual violence. Click here to see a complete overview of the initial sexual assault prevention plan or to learn more about implementing a community development model.
In 2005, Partners in Prevention Education became an umbrella program of Bread and Roses of Olympia and recieved funding from The Office of Crime Victims Advocacy to provide sexual assault services to homeless and at-risk youth and young adults in Thurston County. In 2006, PiPE expanded it's area of focus to include domestic violence and child abuse prevention and crisis support through funding provided by The United Way of Thurston County.
On April 9, 2007, Partners in Prevention Education became a federally recognized 501 (c)(3) non-profit.
